Neil Young "Archives Vol. I: 1963-1972" é a primeira de uma série de caixas de arquivo que abrangem toda a carreira de Young. O Vol. I foi originalmente lançado a 2 de junho de 2009, em três formatos: Uma edição de luxo de 10 discos em Blu-Ray ou DVD e uma caixa de 8 discos em CD.
Fora de circulação há mais de uma década, a caixa de 8 CDs está agora a ser reeditada no seu formato original - alojada na "Garypak", uma embalagem única concebida pelo diretor artístico de longa data de Young, o falecido Gary Burden, onde cada CD tem a sua própria capa personalizada.
Na altura do lançamento em 2009, 13 das canções eram inéditas. Outras 34 faixas eram gravações inéditas ao vivo ou de versões alternativas. O repertório abrange a primeira década da carreira de Neil Young, incluindo material dos Squires, Buffalo Springfield, Crazy Horse, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young e os seus primeiros álbuns a solo. A caixa inclui um folheto de 24 páginas e um grande poster desdobrável.
